I was a medical student in Brooklyn. On September 12, 2001, a surgeon told me to get my scrubs. This is what I wrote down that week, in emails, with no idea that anyone but family would ever read it.
Wow, Pierre, I never knew that you were in the thick of it September 11, 2001. Your account is very well written and illustrates that you have been courageous and generous throughout your life. I hope you will continue to share your knowledge and passion with the rest of the world. I am sickened and discouraged by new knowledge regarding September 11 and the possibility (probability) that it was a false flag attack. It is difficult to comprehend the depths of deception that the truly evil in the world will descend to.
Thank you, that was an amazing experience of yet another historic landmark (perhaps the first) total deviation from life as we once knew it, into the surreal dystopian shock that seems to be a hallmark of our times...😥🙏✨
This is important and I am glad you decided to share. I was glued to the TV screen during that time, watching far more than I should have. I remember seeing the posters with their poignant pleas.
My husband and I planned to eat lunch together near his workplace that day. We weren't sure what to do, but ultimately decided to go ahead with our plans. I'm glad we did. There's not usually a lot of talk among strangers in restaurantd, but we needed to talk to each other that day. I wish we could come together again like we did that day.
A most private and personal.account. Thank you Pierre. You are a great writer! I can vidvidly see the scenes as you describe. The fear - adrenaline pumping with heart pounding. You are a wonderful person, to face all that fear. The realization that one should never enter an unsafe area was wise. What a life you've had - full of profound skills and insights! How lucky we all are here to 'know' you. What a legacy you give to those willing to listening.
I remember going to Ground Zero around Christmas time just a few months after the attack. My most vivid and emotional memory was all of the missing people flyers. Absolutely gut wrenching.
May those truly responsible for this horror be brought to justice one day.
I'm glad you posted it! It's the first recount I have read in years and it made me tear up.
I live on the west coast and had just graduated from Veterinary school in 2001. After taking a few months off I had driven down to Oregon for a job interview. I was getting ready in my hotel room when the news came. Not knowing what to do I phoned my interviewers to ask if they still wanted to meet. They did. Crazy I thought.
I still had to drive home to Washington, 350 miles. No gas stations open that day or the next. No planes in the sky. I ended up staying at my friend's parents house (they happened to live in the same town as my potential job). I finally got home a day or so later..
That job never worked out. But I did stay in that area, started my own practice, and two days ago (25yrs 9/11) I found myself away from home, (covering another hospital that needed help). I called home to check on things and everything was ok.
Thanks so much for sharing this powerful perspective...a reminder (through account of everyone helping on scene) of the strength and heart of the human spirit...which transcends all the anger about why it happened. The people rose above the occasion.
My story is much less selfless. I was in Chelsea that morning. The temp agency had called me in for a job near or in the WTC (can't remember) which I declined because I wasn't feeling well. My brother, who was 3 blocks away from the towers and was supposed to have attended a meeting there later, started banging on my door 1-2 hours later to leave NOW...I
I remember the sound outside like a resonating low vibrational pulse and driving (a wild, frightening ride) to family in Long Island right before all the bridges and tunnels closed. We simply escaped, thought only of ourselves, which, to me, makes the stories of all those who stayed more impactful.
When I returned to nyc several days later, I was struck by how all the people I passed on the street were now making eye contact with me (not usually the case)...looking perhaps for something in someone else that would understand the intense feelings within. I am tremendously grateful for my illness that day, my brother, and all the people who did step up to respond and help. Thank you, Dr. Kory.
Was interesting to read your email accounts of the days following that horrible terrorist attack. Thank you for sharing. I think we all remember where we were on that beautiful, but terrible, morning. Thank you, too, for doing your part to help. God bless America.
I've spent hours both yesterday and today reading about and watching videos of 9/11 and the immediate aftermath. It's been a tough couple of days ... I can only imagine how tough it is each and every year for all those directly affected. Thanks for sharing your up-close and personal experience. I was way out here in the desert and will never get over it. For those of you at Ground Zero, I know the memories are infinitely more painful. ❤️
I have great respect for you as you stand on principles. Your dedication to helping others regarding COVID and the deadly vaccines is to be admired. I lost my 46 year old son to the J&J euthanasia machine… 16 days after taking it because he was mandated by his job that had governmental contracts. Such evil! Also watched the JFK documentary! And that has solidified my belief that God’s plan of salvation is the only realistic Hope for mankind. ( Not that I didn’t wholly believe it before) It’s a real shame that the corruption of truth according to the scriptures has occurred by orthodox religion and is difficult to comprehend unless one searches deeply. Human nature has failed miserably in trying to govern man. Unfortunately a downhill journey, But God’s plan will be a better scenario with His Son in charge and eventually peace and righteousness will prevail. It won’t be that long… prophecy is being fulfilled as we breathe.
The connection you have made regarding water having spiritual significance is huge, and I pray it leads you to the bigger discoveries!
I am an Aurmina fan and customer! I really appreciate your sharing this information. 😋
Simply heartbreaking over and over again Dr. Kory. And this is not over by a long shot. Thank you for sharing what you went through and wrote down from that devastating day. I was rolling out bread in my bakery and had Diane Sawyer on. She was talking about the first plane hitting the tower when the feed behind her showed the second plane hitting the 2nd tower. I knew then, it was an attack. I called my husband at work and told him to turn on the TV and tell everyone what happened. I still weep thinking about it and those who perished, including the police, firemen, etc. God bless and keep them all. And thanks again Dr. Kory!
Same here - was watching live, early morning in Australia. just arrived home late, but we were daily viewere. Said to husband — How odd..... (As I recollect, sure clear skies but a tad chilly) why the heck are they televising from the roof of all places? We've never seen that before..
My best friend in the whole world’s husband worked on the pile for weeks as a retired NYC police officer. Died a few years later from brain tumor directly related to the poisoned pile. They lied to us then as they are lying to us now….
Thanks Pierre. I was a busy FP attending with residents, clinic doc and had OB patients, working 3 sites on 9/11/01, and practicing Tonglen compassion-meditation with my Buddhist group that night.
I got up early on 9/12/01 and gave blood first thing, then another busy day.

Still very much a doctor - to the nth degree.

Yes, very strange. The whole thing seems like an op.

Yes and I like Bret Weinstein too!
If you want to see a video of the day, please watch this one. It's 2 hours and worth every minute. I remember seeing a clip for this video soon after 9-11, where the planes hitting the buildings were shown. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gVYYYm3BC8E&list=FL1E4GuPTj4FmqFX7b_yJgww
