Having worked in healthcare prior to “evidence based medicine” it is exciting to read this. Unfortunately the medical industry is run by greedy bureaucrats now and is the exact reason the general public does not trust medical professionals in today’s world. The study of genetics is proving there’s not a one size fits all way of treating diseases which can disrupt some of the RCT.
Laughing (now) that when I, as an MCAS patient, went to my doctors for a medical exemption for the covid vaccine, they refused. I asked them for studies done on MCAS patients (knowing the true lack of evidenc and they pointed to ONE observational case study, which basically said to load up on antihistamines before getting the shot near/in the ER...just in case, you know. Lost my job, but so grateful I followed my intuition.
I trained under Franz Halberg at the University of Minnesota. He single-handedly started the field of chronobiology. Franz encouraged me to go out into the world and start connecting the dots because he said I didn't belong in a lab — my true skills were grounded in empirical observation. I followed his direction. At the beginning of the obesity epidemic, I ignored the experts when they told us to use BMI to diagnose and manage obesity, because BMI is a size measure that tells you nothing about excess body fat--the definition of obesity. I purchased equipment to measure body composition on each and every patient at every visit, and over decades I took over 18,000 such measurements. Over time, I noticed a strong correlation between changes in body composition and 22 symptoms of brain dysfunction. It fit the pattern of Hudson and Pope's Affective Spectrum Disorder concept; it appeared to be triggered by the neurotoxic effects of ultra-processed food. I decided to rename the disorder Carbohydrate Associated Reversible Brain syndrome or CARB syndrome: https://carbsyndrome.com
I used this concept to successfully manage thousands of patients without any RCT to back me up. I used the approach that gave me the best results!
I’m so glad to read about this field of study. I never thought BMI made sense. My healthy grandmother lived to 100+ years old. Her BMI was probably close to 40.
I just recently watched my son take his last breath after a 5 year battle with cancer. In our research over that 5 years you can’t imagine how many times we read or were told about “insufficient evidence”. If it wasn’t burn, poison, or butcher… it wasn’t worthy of consideration. All I can say is… I hope the ones who benefit from insufficient evidence are forced to watch their children suffer and die. Yes I said that and I mean it. Nobody gives a damn about these poor cancer patients getting well… just brutally torture them as slowly as you can to maximize profit
You and millions, if not billions, of others are who this post was written for. I wish what happened to your poor son was rare; instead, it is systematic. My deepest condolences
I have watched you since the covid hearings. Utmost respect and thanks to you for being a voice that won’t be silenced. I know the cost to you was great

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Been living this disastrous reality since the 1990s. Good times.
