Regarding our awareness of Rare Earth minerals, the homeopathy community has been using many of these elements for treating human imbalances/shortcomings/deficiencies for many years as outlined in "Lanthanides and Self-Actualization" https://hpathy.com/homeopathy-papers/lanthanides-and-self-actualization/

Although I am reading your book for information, I cannot help but notice typos and formatting inconsistencies (5 in the current chapter, plus a suggestion), due to my many years in the book publishing world. Would you like me to point these out in the comments, or skip them and keep reading for pleasure? (As the Substack author, you probably have access to my email address. I will be happy to send them to you privately if you prefer not to have them in the comment section.)

"Today, cattle raised on current feed quality must be supplemented or they will be malnourished, become stunted, sickly, lose their hair, and abort their calves—all because of mineral deficiencies in the soil"

I wonder how this discussion impacts the "grass fed, grass finished" (expensive) beef that I am living on?

"some of the minerals on the “essential” list (selenium and molybdenum), were initially considered to be “toxic” until they were later discovered to be essential"

Truth to the saying "The dose determines the poison" ?

-edit-dang, I should have read the other comments first-

“The dose makes the poison”. If you want some entertaining reading, check out an old homeopathic material medica like “Hering’s Guiding Symptoms” and you can read many cured cases where these kinds of trace elements (Antimony (“Antimonium crudum” or “Antimonium tartaricum”), Iodine, Selenium, Arsenic (“Arsenicum album”, Sulfur, Manganese (“Manganum”) etc.) were used in homeopathic doses (http://homeoint.org/hering/a.htm)

Keep up the great work!

Very much enjoying your book Dr. Kory & a small side note - you literally saved my sanity when nothing in the world made a sense in the con that was covid. I watched EVERYTHING you said & did. I can’t thank you enough. Now I have to confess that we owned a fertilizer business & of course, were led to believe we were doing good things for the soil & feeding the world. Tried to get farmers to use minerals but after fertilizer costs, that was often a hard sell. All we can do is learn & try to do better. Like you do. I will be contacting your wife as I am in western Canada. Thank you for all you do. ❤️

Great stuff. Reminded me of meeting Arthur Hollis (1915-2005) a few years before his death. A pioneer of organic farming and soil restoration. Check out fordhallfarm.com. Also Safe Remedies have been selling a mineral supplement with Humic and Fulvic Acids and Volcanic Cinders plus 77 minerals among other things for decades, now called Volcomin Forte. Roll on the further information, whatever it reveals.

I look forward to being able to get a paper copy of the book internationally to give as a gift in the future. It needs to be a worldwide best seller! I cannot share an ebook with my doctor or Member of Parliament.

Got it. For international orders, email my wife at info@fromvolcanoestovitality.com. Read Chapter 16 for comparisons of the different sources of broad mineral supplementation, it was pretty edifying to me when I researched it

When we lived in Tennessee I was getting my produce from a regenerative farmer who had been doing it for years. Best produce ever. His butternut squash was as orange as pumpkins skins. So sweet I used them for pie.

Looking forward to diving into the whole series. Great project as I recover from surgery for a dislocated/fx shoulder. From a freak accident not any of my horse riding antics. You know how it goes !!

Re fluoride, are the possible negative side effects perhaps due to the type of adulterated chemical added to water as opposed to the natural mineral? Like maybe the difference between folate and folic acid as additives to cereal, breads, etc?

Mary (and anyone else reading this) - I want your opinion on Chapters 13 and 14. They are long and very science-heavy chapters. Should I:

1) Leave as is - the biochemistry science is so critically important

2) Make chapters 13 and 14 shorter and more geared to a layperson and thus move the "heavy science" to the Appendix

Regarding flouride,

Anecdote: as new parents we gave our first-born flouride tablets because our doctor recommended them.(!!) She suffered two fractures as a toddler: one from throwing herself on the floor in a tantrum and one from tripping on a luggage strap. As a consequence we, the parents, had a little conference with a social worker asking us such questions as: do you do drugs? How much alcohol do you drink daily?

When we related this incident to a material scientist friend teaching at a major university, she stated that it makes bones denser but more brittle. You don't say.

Trying Redmond to improve our soil health along with a pattern of growing similar to a forest. Not perfect, but I've noticed in one year our plants lifted up. Small, Hobby farm that just added Chickens, who receive supplements also. Can't help but think this crosses all life - even the pollinators.

I have ordered both books Doc. I am expecting to learn something I can apply to everyday life, as I do regularly. My water well is 214 feet deep, into a mountain top of basalt underlain by sedimentary rock, and is faithfully supplying me with water tested to be in the aesthetic parameters of the best waters in the world. A cardiologist told me he wanted to go into the water business with me after he requested a copy of the tests of water from my well. He said my water actually is useful for wound healing, and contains components used in military medicine for treating serious wounds, and is supportive of arterial and heart health. Food we grow there is indeed desirable for it's flavor and nutrition, and is sought after in the community. Doctors have commented that we appear to be "well nourished". Keep 'em coming Doc.
