A "hamhock" refers to a household construction or recreational project done in a crude, inexpert fashion, resulting in temporary fixes or enjoyments that often break soon after. I present my resume.
Wow - your intubation isolation box pic brings back a few memories!
I developed a portable unit - working with some anesthesiologists - early on during covid.
I made it clear (flexible plastic), round, snap together, and with an angled lid (easy sightlines & access), and incorporated elbow length 'breeding sleeve gloves', to really isolate the pt from the room. My idea was that it HAD TO breakdown, be stowed in an ambulance cabinet, an ER shelf, etc, assemble in 20 seconds, and be re-usable.
We provided them to hospitals and trauma groups early in covid, but it seems that the thinking MDs caught on about the great Covid scam a lot faster, and the demand dropped off just as fast as it started!
I've wondered often if there's still a need for it, for an ACTUAL pandemic situation.
Another synonym for your “ham hock” could be a “Rube Goldberg” repair, device or contraption! I’m in a similar camp with you, by putting a Mazda RX-7 engine in a two seat airplane
Watching these videos . Nothing better than family enjoying life together outside and inside. I love the disco ball swing accompanied by drums! My favorite musician is John Bonham so just a huge lover of percussion. Also climbing mattress mountain. Baby Violet is adorable. Your girls are awesome ! Thanks again for all you have done to keep the world a better place. What would have happened if you hadn’t been so brave. Speaking out about ivermectin and now chlorine dioxide . Just really saving so many people and pets!
Wow I would have a hard time picking out what looks like the most FUN!! (skipping the dunk tank.) I think the hangatorium set to disco inferno music. Reminds me of all the crazy playground stuff we did back in the 60s. I do think I see a retirement plan for you ... the revival of the Mellowship would be a great start. No illicit drugs needed LOL!!! I highly doubt any of your kids are OSHA regulators :)
What a lot of laughs. So glad you can enjoy your family so much. Your girls seem to love it and you!! Probably because you appear to be a big kid yourself😂😂😂. Great to see this side of you!
What an awesome dad AND hamhocker! Thank you for sharing this side of you, Dr. Kory...I love it! I knew there was something special about you from the moment I learned of you in May 2021. Have followed you ever since. Your selflessness in helping humanity kept me and my family/friends safe from the grips of Covid. The appreciation and admiration I have for you is immeasurable. May God continue to keep His protective arm around you, and bless you immensely. By the way, your kiddos are beautiful! Watching the interaction between you all is heartwarming :)
What a great dad! Your daughters will be strong and confident young women. Thanks for sharing. We tend to think of doctors as “ not having a life”. You have totally changed that for me.
I'll say this. I missed the chance to treat my kids to this spectacularly adventurous childhood. But I won't miss it for my grandkids! Gonna have to call me Hammy (for hamhocker) for all the redneck type fun things I create.
What I like best here is how involved your family is in the creation as well as the trial runs. The shared experience can never be erased, and will become more and more cherished as the years pass.
This is EXACTLY why we chose you -( although the “I’m too sexy video” dancing with your daughters and walking on your hands is what cinched it back in 2022. ) to SAVE OUR DAUGHTER’s LIFE! 1). Your LOVE for your children is unquestionable and obvious to see 2) You never accept defeat 3) Think outside the box and if there is a will you make a way 4) Passion. Every morning when I walk into my daughter’s room and her eyes open I say a prayer thanking God he brought you into our lives. Thanking God he made you exactly as you are. It’s your experiences that shaped you into the man you are.
It's been so sweet to see your inventiveness and share the joy with your family and friends...! I can imagine your beautiful "child's heart"... may God bless you all. Thanks friend.
Your children are so fortunate, most have to go underground to get a fraction of that free play, what a bunch of happy episodes. Your character and joyful antics remind me of some of the quotes by the physicist Richard Feynman and his book “Surely You’re Joking...”. My fav “Study hard what interests you the most in the most undisciplined, irreverent, and original manner possible.’’ Thank you so for all the education you offer for those of us wanting to be more self-directed in health care matters---you are one of those rare souls who have a heart of caring equal to their exceptional intelligence. Blessings.
Ha ha ha…..are you really a doctor? I thought you had to be smart to be a doctor…..I only watched 1 video…the last one (blue green algae) Yeah….you’re not a doctor. But you totally could be in one of those “bro-com” movies!! Thanks for the laughs.
I want to make one more point: I am the child of my parents obviously so please know that they were both in the water playing with my kids in that news segment (they are both in their 80's and they also wanted to go to the lake and swim with the kids, toxic algae be damned!!) Who was I to put up a fuss? :) :)

What a fun Dad you are! Your girls are very lucky.
I especially loved the Mellow Ship, it was simply hilarious!
Thank you for sharing 😁
Ah!
Hamhocking: The fine art of making family memories that are only *slightly* terrifying.
Most excellent!

You won the Internet for me today!

Glad you caught that one!! Yeah, that's just me - I don't sweat the small stuff :)
